The novel was based in Las Vegas. It had a mix of magic and mystery. The mystery is how did the magician die in front of an audience including his ex wife and son. It was an easy and fun read. ***I received this book in return for an honest review***

From Bruges with Love by Pieter Aspe

This is the first Van In, the Belgian Police Commissioner. He usually works with the deputy Prosecutor, who happens to be his wife. In this case a young girl finds a bone while playing in her backyard and it happens to be human. Good story line and interesting characters, it was fun finding out about the Belgian culture and hearing about the type of food they eat. ***I received this book in exchange for an honest review***

Flambe in Armagnac by Jean-Pierre Alaux and Neil Balen

Benjamin is back with Virgile this time they are estimating the damage done at Armagnac estate by a fire in which the master distiller was also killed. The loss was substantial and the insurance company needs a dollar amount. Inspector Sloan and Constable Crosby are called in when a nun is found at the bottom of the basement stairs at the Convent of St Anselma. Sloan is very uncomfortable at the Convent and dealing with the other nuns. Colin Pendragon and Ethan Pruitt investigate the death and other murders linked to the first death. Well written story line, good characters and a stimulating read. Cognac Conspiracies by Jean Pierre Alaux and Noel Balen

Benjamin and Virgile are back when a Chinese company hires Benjamin to do an audit to see if the cognac business is worth it to take over. Benjamin meets a former lover and really does not like the family that owns the vineyard so Virgile takes over while Benjamin visits his former lover. Benjamin Cooker and his assistant Virgile are back this time they are in the middle of a heat wave and they are visiting vineyards trying yo figure a way to save the grapes. Benjamin's daughter is visiting from the US and goes on a date with a supervisor from one of the vineyards, she is involved in a car accident and Benjamin becomes suspicious and of course the investigation begins. Thorncroft Manor by Nora Covington

This book told the story of two secret societies, the Freemason's and the Thule, one evil and one well known. Inspector Marcus and Jade Zewinski are on the trail of some very sadistic people to try and solve the murders of many people. Then Thule date back to Germany and has some savage rituals. This is the sequel to Judas the Apostle. Cloe and her son J.E. continue the quest to find the "cave of Jars" her father spoke about finding during war. They are joined by people from the Vatican and try to out run the Karik who took the place of the deceased Kolector in trying to find the cave once again in an attempt to bring down the Catholic Church. A wonderful fairy tale with Baltic influences about the coming of age tale of a young girl. Jennie the girl has a legacy of supernatural dealings. This was a cozy mystery set in 1483 and 1484, in Bristol England. This mystery and its characters and events are in the culture and atmosphere of Plantagenet England in a small village starting to celebrate a few weeks of holiday merry making. This book was written when the author was only26 years old. The storyline was about an Egyptian tomb that had never been found. This was a mystery/adventure with a treasure hunt. Although the clues are easy enough, they have a creative and surprising touches. The Boss Always Sits in the Back By Jon D'Amore

I was not sure what to expect but I knew it would be good if Jon wrote it as I went to school with him. This book tells the story of when the mob was at it best. It has humor,adventure and a kind of love story of cousin for a cousin, I could not put it down as a Hudson County girl,it took me back to the good old days and fond memories. Jon you have created a wonderful book and I think it would make a great movie,keep writing Jon you have a wonderful talent.
